Some might call the collection process the best part. Your testicles are constantly producing sperm. During an ejaculation, the sperm stored in your epididymis are shot out and fresh sperm come in. It takes days to completely refill the epididymis. Testing too soon after an ejaculation will usually show a lower sperm count than your average.

After your vasectomy, you need to be sure you are not making any sperm. You will have to give your doctor a semen sample to send to a lab. The lab will count the number of sperm and may check the semen for signs of an infection.
Although vasectomy is highly successful at preventing sperm from returning to the ejaculate, a confirmatory semen sample test is recommended three 3 months after the vasectomy procedure. There is no charge for this test if performed by my office. There is no charge for this test if done in our office and we will contact you with the test result. Option 2: Outside lab testing You can take your semen sample to the nearest lab for post vasectomy semen testing.
